Serignac-sur-Garonne,calling “Serignac d’Agenais” in the past, is a village witch owes its name to the Roman centurion Sérignus. It became in 1273 a French walled town, founded by the Viscount of Béarn Gaston VII, with the help of the abbey of Figeac. It preserved a very beautiful architecture: half-timbered houses, place with arcades and Roman church with the helicoid bell-tower built at the end of XVe century
